Business Intelligence

We have seen a lot of investments in business intelligence in the past decade. But honestly saying, not many solutions are still standing today. The complexity of implementing a solid Business Intelligence solution lies not only in the technical challenge to build the IT tools but just as much in the functional preparation of the reporting model and the change management to implement the (governance) change. QVS is the right partner for a structured and cost effective implementation of Business Intelligence tools.

Business Intelligence with NemisFS

Although many companies have invested heavily in SAP BW, there are excellent alternatives for companies with a SAP backend architecture. Our partner NewFrontiers has developed a BI application that fully integrates with your SAP backend. The application is available with Oracle Technology, SAP Technology and Microsoft Technology. Within 5 working days, your figures can reported for a specific subject area, such as Revenue Analysis, Cost Control, Account Receivables, Accounts Payables, Sales orders and Deliveries and Plant Maintenance. After installation, QVS can support you to further fine tune the BI application to your information needs and to help you to deploy it within your organisation. The NewFrontiers NemisFs solution sounds too good to be true so we invite you to ask for a proof of concept.

Profitability and Cost Simulation

Most business intelligence solutions have a retrospective view on results. Getting an effective possible view towards the future enables an organisation to decide today and benefit tomorrow. How will my profitability change if I change my product sales mix? Or what is my price sensitivity for a specific supplier for raw materials? Or what is the margin effect (ie business case) for a strategic manufacturing decision? The financial crisis are bringing these issues to CxO level and these kind of questions are hard to answer without doing simulations. The Canadian company pVelocity acknowledged this and developed a sophisticated tool for Profitability and Cost simulation.

The tool uses data coming from the back-end systems and allows you to do different simulations. Recently these tools are also available on the iPad. QVS Consulting has a strategic partnership with pVelocity because we believe in the strength of the pVelocity toolset. We also recognize that a business case is easily build and a proof of concept can be done within a short timeframe.

BI

Reporting as a process

Although the chosen technology & platform is important for the success of your Business Intelligence implementation, we are convinced that it is crucial for companies to embed Business Intelligence as a process within its organization. We believe that BI related projects need to be driven ‘mainly’ by the business, supported by IT and external experts. Business Intelligence should not be seen as project (s), but as a continuously, to be improved process within your organization. Your business requirements are changing due to various internal and external influencers, and therefore you should be able to adapt quickly, effectively and efficiently. QVS can support you to set up the corporate governance and structure that is needed for the integration of reporting as a process in your organization.

Functional cost reporting

How much ‘fat’ do I have in my cost of organization and how does this relate to my peers? The financial crisis brought this question to the table of almost each CFO. Functional cost reporting is an organizational discipline that shows your cost of organization according to pre-defined functions. The new perspective for reporting organizational costs, will give you fresh insights for improved cost control. And it gives you the opportunity to fully benchmark your cost of organization. QVS can help you to define the pre-requisites for effective functional cost reporting and can help you to design your finance processes in such a way that functional cost reporting becomes an extra dimension in your integrated financials.
